Background

Dr Thomas Budd is an Associate Professor of Airport Decarbonisation in the Centre for Air Transport Management at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é. His main areas of teaching and research expertise include air transport environmental and sustainability planning, including the role of digital tranformation and zero emissions fuels in decarbonisation and achieving net zero. The role is co-funded by Heathrow Airport, via their longstanding partnership and support of Cranfield's Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC).

In DARTeC, Thomas coordinates research activities in the Ground Operations (GO) Laboratory; an at-scale aircraft stand test-bed environment for trialling new and disruptive technologies in the field of airport ground operations.

In the Centre for Air Transport Management, Thomas leads the Air Transport Environmental Planning MSc module and professional short-course.

Thomas joined Cranfield in August 2014 having previously conducted his PhD research at Loughborough University, and held a research fellowship in the Centre for Transport Research at the University of Aberdeen.
