Background

Dr Sherar's background is in Mathematics and Computational Engineering and he has a Phd in Geometric Modelling from Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é. Prior to this he received a BSc in Maths from Imperial College and two MSc's, one in Maths from Warwick and one in Software Techniques for Computer Aided Engineering, again from Cranfield.

Dr Sherar has carried out extensive work on the development of modelling, analysis and data transfer algorithms in the area of Computer Aided Design and Manufacture. This has principally been in the form of mathematical modelling tools and libraries developed as part of research contracts funded from the automobile industry.

He also acted as Course Director and Lecturer on a Masters Programme in Computational & Software Techniques in Engineering and was heavily involved over this time in teaching, thesis supervision and course development.

Dr Sherar has also lectured extensively in the university and commercial sectors in the areas of programming, software engineering and mathematical modelling..

Current activities

Dr Sherar's current activities are focused on the delivery of modules and supervision of thesis projects for the MSc programmes in the centre for Computational Engineering Sciences. In particular, the modules he contributes to are:

Digital Product Engineering

Visualisation

Advanced Java and Python Programming

His supervision of thesis projects focuses in the areas of visualisation and virtual reality, geometric modelling and computational engineering..
