Background
Angelos Plastropoulos is a Software Engineer with over 20 years of experience across multiple industries with a solid and balanced combination of technical, research and managerial set of skills. Angelos has worked on a broad spectrum of topics, such as human-computer interaction and visualisation, IoT, cloud computing, and simulations. Nonetheless, his primary skill set lies in the development of robotics applications and, more specifically, in ROS (Robot Operating System). He has been involved in this area since 2015 and became a ROS Ambassador in 2017. He focuses on developing robust systems that operate on robots for harsh environments, usually performing automated NDT inspections in areas such as hangars, offshore wind, FPSOs, and construction sites. Angelos has excellent experience managing international collaborative research projects and working with work packages against strict deadlines. He has been involved in more than 20 R&D projects as an engineer or project leader. He enjoys attending, publishing and presenting at conferences, seminars and other networking events.
Angelos is also a part-time PhD candidate, started at the end of October 2023, focusing his research work on the development of sophisticated NDT approaches applied in aircraft inspection. His supervisors are Prof Nicolas Peter Avdelidis and Prof Xavier P. V. Maldague
